This lovely Art Deco Pub, built in 1937, is situated in leafy North Oxford; close to Jericho and a mile from the city centre, with easy access by car, bus and train. With a warm and friendly welcome, Charlotte and her front of house team offer professional service in a relaxed atmosphere for both diners and drinkers alike.
Head Chef Jamie King began his cooking career at Harvey Nichols's Vth Floor Resteraunt, Knightsbridge under acclaimed chef Henry Harris, where he rose to became Sous Chef. Jamies next move was to Oxford, as the opening Head Chef of Branca, in December 2000. The Kings then took the opportunity of a country pub, The Star Inn at Sulgrave near Banbury. Here they gained recongniton in several guides and a star from Egon Ronay. Following this enjoyable and successful tenure, they approached Wadworth with their plan and vision for The Anchor! .

May Morning is an Oxford tradition. The North Oxford celebrations focus on Aristotle Bridge, opposite the pub with Morris Men, singing and beer for breakfast! Open from 6am come rain or shine !
On Friday mornings enjoy "Breakfast Club" for coffee & croissants, from 9am - 11am, term time only.
Quiz Night - every Sunday evening from 9pm (excluding the last Sunday of the month). Supper is served from 6.30-8.30pm.
The Anchor Book Club meets on the second Monday of each month at 7:30pm in the conservatory. The Author also attends to discuss the book. In the coming months we will discuss the following books:
